D, Hunter of the Dead Quest Walkthrough

Speak to D near Summonwater Village

When you first speak to D, Hunter of the Dead, he will tell you about the beings he calls Those Who Live in Death. He warns you against the Tibia Mariner inhabiting the ruined Summonwater Village in Limgrave.

Defeat the Tibia Mariner

In order to progress the interaction with D, players will need to defeat the Tibia Mariner boss. During the fight, it will teleport throughout the village and summon skeletons to defend itself.

Tip: Stay on horseback throughout the duration of this fight. Most of the Mariner's attacks are easily dodged. Keeping mobile on Torrent allows you to ignore the mobs completely and focus down the Mariner.

How to Beat Tibia Mariner

Speak to D in Summonwater Village

After the boss fight, speak to D who appears in the area. He will tell you to head to a gate that teleports you to the Bestial Sanctum. Speak to D's master, Gurranq, and feed him the Deathroot dropped by the Mariner.

Speak to Him at The Table of Lost Grace

After you feed Gurranq the Deathroot, D will relocate to the Roundtable Hold. He will be seated on one of the chairs at the Table of Lost Grace.

Speak to him and he will tell you that you are now brothers in arms of the Golden Order. Afterwards, D will sell two Incantations unique to his Order.

How to Get to The Roundtable Hold

Ask About Rogier

Once players beat Godrick the Grafted, Sorcerer Rogier will move to The Roundtable Hold. After speaking with the sorcerer briefly, return to D and he will have a few things to say about his time fighting alongside Rogier.

Give Him the Withered Dagger

At some point in Fia's questline, she will ask the Tarnished for a favor. Ask her what it is and she will give you a Withered Dagger to hand back to its owner. Give this dagger to D in order to progress his questline.

Once he has it, reload the area and head over to the previously locked door next to Fia's bedchambers. Inside, D will have already been killed by Fia. Looting him will give you D's Bell Bearing, the Twinned Helm, Twinned Armor, Twinned Gauntlets, and Twinned Greaves.

How to Obtain the Inseparable Sword

While this is the end of D's questline, he will have a twin brother at the Siofra Aqueduct in Nokron, Eternal City. Giving his brother the Twinned Armor Set will allow players to get D's weapon, the Inseparable Sword, after they complete Fia's questline.

Note: If players push through with giving D's brother the armor, Fia will die at the end of her questline. Make sure to weigh your options before handing over the armor.

D is initially found west of Summonwater Village. If you arrive at the Roundtable Hold before meeting D in Limgrave, he will be located there instead.

Lore

• D, Hunter of the Dead is a servant of the Golden Order who rids the land of Those Who Live in Death. In his youth, he adventured throughout the Lands Between with the spellsword named Rogier.
• However, in his quest to rid the world of Those Who Live in Death, D manages to trespass within the affairs of Fia the Deathbed Companion. This puts a target on his back and he is soon murdered by Fia in the Roundtable Hold.

Trivia

• If players fight and defeat the Tibia Mariner before encountering D, he will instead first appear at Roundtable Hold. This allows you to continue his quest despite missing the first interaction.
• D's real name is Darian. D's brother will reveal this tidbit of information when he stands over Fia's corpse at the end of her questline.
• The real name of D's brother is Devin. He will whisper this name if you kill him in Limgrave.
